Ottawa, Ontario, Canada--Lumenera, a developer and manufacturer of high performance digital cameras and imaging solutions, has announced the release of a new high definition USB 2.0 digital camera aimed at industrial markets. The high resolution Lw290 camera is based on a new 1080P HD sensor, intended for high quality industrial, machine vision, military and medical imaging.

The Lw290's 16:9 HD format, 2.0 megapixel CMOS sensor delivers 20 frames per second at full 1920x1080 resolution. Higher frame rates are available at lower resolution, with full sub-window control and live focusing modes. This high performance camera offers unique characteristics such as higher dynamic range (>60dB) and low blooming for greater image detail and superior quality images.

As with the entire line of Lumenera cameras, no framegrabber is required. This USB 2.0 based camera provides simple plug-and-play integration with any DirectShow application. On-board processing delivers outstanding image quality, sensitivity and value for a variety of industrial applications. This camera is available in both board level (Lw290) and enclosed (Lw295) versions, is offered with both color and monochrome capability and is fully supported by the Lumenera Software Developer's Kit with an application programming interface compatible with C++ and Visual Basic.

"These new 16:9 HD format cameras provide the additional horizontal resolution requested for many industrial applications. With 2.0 megapixel color and monochrome variants, the Lw290 compliments Lumenera's line of superior quality cameras," said Kevin Barwin, VP Sales. "Look for a CCD variant on Lumenera's USB 2.0 and Ethernet platforms early in Q3/06 - providing even higher performance."
