LDB100F and LDB101F brightfield LED illumination sources from Prior Scientific (Rockland, MA) feature a 550 nm flip-in filter in the light path to reduce background fluorescence attributed to stray light, and can be fitted to most upright and inverted microscope systems. The source produces homogeneous light with a constant color temperature of 5500K, enabling intensity for contrast techniques such as phase contrast or DIC imaging. A TTL connection allows extremely rapid switching (<140 µs) of the light, eliminating the need for shutters and reducing any potential vibration.
