Lausanne, Switzerland--Laser scanning systems developer Lemoptix and Japan-based Hamamatsu Photonics have signed a long-term collaboration agreement to develop, industrialize, and commercialize MOEMS laser scanning and microprojection devices.

In the partnership, Lemoptix will leverage the strength of its LSCAN MOEMS micromirror and MVIEW microprojection technology platforms with Hamamatsu Photonics' expertise, experience, and worldwide reach in industrializing, producing, and commercializing optoelectronic and photonic systems.

The LSCAN MOEMS micromirror, a key component of the MVIEW microprojection system, has been selected for use in several applications such as laser printing and industrial sensors. The MVIEW microprojection technology has already been validated by the automotive industry for use in Head-Up Display systems and, due to it having the world’s smallest projection optical engine, could appeal to the mobile device world.

For Hamamatsu Photonics' Solid State Division, the collaboration allows the company to further expand its MOEMS-based product line and to enter into a new market segment in the optoelectronic field. Hamamatsu Photonics’ new MEMS and Integral Optics facility brings MOEMS fabrication and wafer-scale assembly capabilities, quality assurance management, and a global sales force network to provide necessary individual support.
