Mantova, Italy--Optical systems manufacturer Opto Engineering recently formed Opto-E, a division of the company dedicated to laser and infrared (IR) optics.

The new division's IR optics family includes lenses for the shortwave IR (SWIR; 0.9–1.7 µm), midwave IR (MWIR; 3–5 µm) and longwave IR (LWIR; 8–14 µm) bands, with 30, 50, and 75 mm focal lengths. Applications for the lenses include semiconductor and solar cell inspection, food sorting, low-light imaging, non-contact temperature measurement, IR industrial maintenance, electronic inspection, and process monitoring.

The laser optics offering includes F-theta scan lenses for fiber laser sources with input beam diameters as large as 16 or 20 mm, which fit into various galvo scanning systems used for drilling, cutting, welding, perforating, marking, engraving, and surface cleaning.

The division also provides customized IR and laser optical systems to fit specific application requirements.
