Basler AG (Ahrensburg, Germany), a manufacturer of industrial cameras, has acquired all of the shares of Silicon Software GmbH (Mannheim, Germany), effective immediately. The two managing directors of Silicon Software, Klaus-Henning Noffz and Ralf Lay, will continue in leadership positions.
Basler continues to expand its product portfolio for computer vision applications with this transaction. The company noted that, with the high data rates of next-generation image sensors, easy-to-use high-performance image acquisition cards are becoming increasingly important. By combining Basler's cameras with intelligent image acquisition cards from Silicon Software, customers will receive solutions from a single source, which allows pre-processing and on-board analysis of image data, and enables cost-cutting potential. The graphical programming of the vision processors via Silicon Software's VisualApplets software leads to shorter development times and faster time-to-market cycles for customers.
Noffz and Lay said, "The strategic alignment of the two companies fits very well together. Basler and Silicon Software, founded in 1997, can now offer solutions from image acquisition to analysis for all performance areas worldwide. These two brands also stand for innovations in embedded and Industry 4.0."
