Optics companies merge to form Jenoptik Optical Systems, Inc.

Coastal Optical Systems and Liebmann Optical Company, both subsidiaries of Jenoptik, have merged to form Jenoptik Optical Systems, Inc., which is headquartered in Jupiter, FL. The new company boasts 70,000 square feet of optical manufacturing, 100 employees, and a broad array of product offerings--which it says elevate Jenoptik Optical Systems, Inc. to "best in class in North America."

Coastal Optical Systems and Liebmann Optical Company, both subsidiaries of Jenoptik, have merged to form Jenoptik Optical Systems, Inc., which is headquartered in Jupiter, FL. The new company boasts 70,000 square feet of optical manufacturing, 100 employees, and a broad array of product offerings--which it says elevate Jenoptik Optical Systems, Inc. to "best in class in North America."

Jenoptik Optical Systems will deliver services ranging from design and manufacture of prototype optical assemblies to high volume component manufacturing for applications ranging from ultraviolet (UV) through long-wave infrared (LWIR). Primary markets are life science research, defense, semiconductor manufacturing, digital projection, optical metrology and astronomical research but in fact are any that require custom precision optics.

Jenoptik acquired Liebmann in 1999, and then acquired Coastal in 2002. The two subsidiaries have leveraged the capabilities of Liebmann in optical component manufacturing with the systems expertise of Coastal into a broad range of optical solutions to meet demanding requirements.

The International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)-compliant Jenoptik Optical Systems says it looks forward to continuing to serve its customers in all markets from both its Jupiter, FL headquarters (561-881-7400) and its Liebmann facility in Easthampton, MA (413-527-0079). The new company is a member of the Optical Systems division of the Jenoptik group of companies based in Jena, Germany. Other US subsidiaries include MEMS Optical, Inc (Huntsville, AL) specializing in diffractive and refractive microoptical components manufactured by grayscale wafer based fabrication techniques and Jenoptik Polymer Systems, Inc. (Rochester, NY) specializing in high volume molded polymer optics.
