PRESS RELEASE

Photon Control Proudly Releases New High Sensitivity UV to NIR Spectrometer to Successful Line Up

Burnaby, B.C., January 11, 2011 ~ Photon Control Inc. ("Photon Control") (TSX-V: PHO), a leading developer of innovative measurement technologies, is pleased to announce the release of the New SPM-002-XT64 to Photon Control’s successful line up of Spectrometers.

The SPM-002-XT64 is now the most versatile spectrometer optical bench in the Photon Control product line. It is equipped with a Hamamatsu S11071-1106 back thinned CCD detector for very high sensitivity from UV to NIR. The SPM-002-XT64 has a 2048 x 64 pixel array to collect light efficiently from large core optical fibers. It also has a dynamic range of 6520:1 and 16 bit A/D converter resolution. SPM-002-XT64 boasts anti-blooming benefits which are very helpful distinguishing adjacent emission lines with large differences in power levels. What sets the SPM-002-XT64 apart from other spectrometers of its kind in the market; is cost competitiveness, a wide range of features and proprietary optical design to achieve a higher resolution.

SPM-002-XT64 is well suited for a variety of applications such as Plasma Monitoring, Chemical Analysis, and Food Inspection to name a few.

Photon Control’s Spectrometers are the only ones equipped with an internal DSP chip. This DSP chip is capable of handling complex signal processing tasks. It also boasts powerful software development kits.

The SPM-002-XT64 works extremely well with the SPL family of light sources and other accessories available at Photon Control.

Photon Control Inc. will be demonstrating the SPM-002-XT64 at Photonics West 2011, January 25-27 in San Francisco at booth #5139 located in the North hall.
